JUSTIN KNOWLES: NEW WORK

16 October - 14 November 2002

Including works by:
Justin Knowles

Simplicity of visual expression and clarity of form characterises the work of Justin Knowles, as he strives towards “an absolute of resolved visual expression.” His artistic vision manifests itself in a canon of pure, predominantly sharp-edged basic geometric forms in unmixed primary colours. These are either staged as single units or united in sweeping compositions, structured repetitive patterns or sequences. He defines his visual language as mathematical lyricism and perceives it as being purely visual and unburdened by ideological content. Though the resulting forms are resolved, there exists tension and energy in each piece.
